Albert's bride: the mystery deepens

Did she or didn't she? Did Prince Albert of Monaco's bride-to-be Charlene Wittstock try to run back home to South Africa days before their £50million wedding this weekend?
She was said to have been upset by a rumour about the prince's private life.
French TV royalty commentator Stephen Bern, a friend of Albert, says: 'A woman could very well be pretending that she is pregnant by the Prince.'
Meanwhile the prince has dropped his threat of legal action against French news magazine L'Express which had reported the story. To read more go to http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2009168/Monaco-royal-wedding-Prince-Albert-takes-Charlene-Wittstock-walkabout.html.
Is it impolite to wonder what first attracted Charlene, an attractive, willowy 33-year-old blonde, to the balding, paunchy prince, 20 years her senior and with an estimated £1billion fortune?
Meanwhile, have you called off your wedding at short notice? Has it happened to you? Magazines will pay big money to hear about it and UK Features will help you sell your story.

Will your man cheat? Look at his dad

Your man is more likely to cheat on you if his father played the field, a new study has found.
Womanising celebs who had cheating fathers include Tiger Woods and Ryan Giggs, the Daily Mail reports.
The survey reports that while men tend to 'inherit' a cheating tendency from their fathers, girls are not affected in the same way if their mothers took lovers.
Men usually have affairs not because they unhappily married but because they want sex and a variety of sexual partners, says Jan Havlicek, of Prague University, who led the research. Women were most likely to stray if they were looking for a new partner.
The full story is at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2008368/Cheating-runs-family--future-father-law-unfaithful-likely-husband-too.html.

Law student cried rape to cover up course failure

Former law student Aisha Mather cried rape because she was ashamed to tell her parents she had been kicked off her course. She has been jailed for two years.
Mather, 19, spent 'more time socialising than studying', Nottingham Crown Court heard, and was ordered to leave Nottingham Trent University after failing her first year exams.
She ripped her tights, overturned a coffee table and pulled down curtains at her lodgings in an attempt to convince police that she had been raped at knifepoint, believing that it would give her an excuse to go back to live with her parents in Stevenage, Herts, without telling them the real reason.
Mather kept up her story for eight days and police arrested a man who matched her description of a 'tattoed black rapist'. Three other men were questioned during the major investigation.
She admitted perverting the course of justice after police found a flaw in her account. See the full story at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2006373/Female-law-student-jailed-making-rape-allegation-ashamed-failing-university.html.

Brave Alice amazed by gifts

Brave teenager Alice Pyne is amazed at how her ‘bucket list’ of things to do while she still can has become a worldwide internet hit.
Alice, 15, who has terminal cancer, says: ‘It was never meant to be this big. The kind people who are offering things, it’s amazing. I’m busy most days of the week.’
Last week Alice met Take That. Yesterday she swam with sharks and here’s how she describes the experience in her blog:
‘Wow, what an incredible day.  Today was amazing, I got to fly in a private plane from home all the way up to Scotland which I thought would be scary but it was so much fun.  It was a really nice sunny day and the views were incredible as we were flying quite low.  I got to sit in the front seat and my dad had to go in the back with our friend Phil.  It was quite funny looking at them back there.  I felt like a real celeb lol.
When we landed, a pink hummer was waiting to take us to the Deep Sea World and it was so pink that I thought my dad was going to die of embarrassment.  Inside it was a bottle of pink bubbly and I got my glass and sat back to enjoy the ride, waving and singing as I went like a 10 year old ha, ha. …’

10 tips to help you write and sell your real-life story

Every publication, newspaper and magazine, has its own style. Some editors like their real-life stories to begin with an exciting event and then to go back to the beginning.
Many prefer a story to start at the beginning and to be told in the order that events happened. That is called the narrative style.
I’m Robin Corry¸ a successful freelance writer for 30 years, and I run my own features agency called UK Features to help people sell their real-life stories. I have written and sold hundreds of people’s stories. Here are my top ten tips to help you write a real-life story that will sell:
1        Your story should have a beginning, middle and clearly defined end. The end should normally be upbeat. No-one wants an unhappy ending.
2        Look at the magazine/s or newspaper/s you would like to sell your story to. Are most of their real-life stories told in the first person, from the viewpoint of the person they happened to, or in the third person, as though another writer is telling their story? If in doubt, the first person is usually the best choice.
3        Your first paragraph is hugely important. It must be interesting and intriguing to make people want to read on.
4        For popular weekly women’s magazines, tell your story in a succession of scenes, with people speaking – the way that TV soap operas tell their stories.
5        For more upmarket magazines and for newspapers, particularly the middle market papers such as the Daily Mail, the pace can be a little slower and more thoughtful.
6        Keep the point of your story in mind. Don’t include irrelevant detail or go up sidetracks. Surprise is important. If, say, your story is about someone you loved who treated you badly, start your story in happy times, recounting how lovely and caring the person was. What happened later will then come as a surprise.
7        Do not accuse anyone of a criminal offence unless they have been convicted of it in court. For example, you cannot accuse someone of being criminally violent towards you unless they have been found guilty of such an offence. But if, say, you fled to a women’s refuge, you could recount that without spelling out the reason.
8        Count the words in a real-life story in the magazine or newspaper you are hoping to sell to (just count a couple of column inches and multiply). It is fine to send a story that’s a little longer, but not twice as long. Do a word count (click ‘Tools’ in Microsoft Word) and then start cutting!
9        Do not send the whole story to a magazine or newspaper ‘cold’. Editors haven’t the time to wade through all those words. Send a brief outline first.
10   Instead of writing your story yourself you could use one of several reputable agencies, such as my own, UK Features. It is much easier and you will probably be paid more because an agency will know which magazines and newspapers will pay the most for your story and will negotiate the best fee.

Is pop turning into porn?

STARS including Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are blamed today for turning pop into porn by songwriter Mike Stock, of Stock, Aitken and Waterman fame.
He says the singers ‘have taken sexualised imagery, dance moves and lyrical content way beyond the limits of decency’. For the full story go to http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2004565/Kylie-Minogues-ex-songwriter-Mike-Stock-says-pop-music-descending-porn.html

Porn has been blamed for the making women unhappy with their own bodies and encouraging them to pay out for cosmetic treatments. It has also been accused of wrecking marriages when a partner uses porn for satisfaction and goes off love-making.
Have you had a problem with porn – perhaps because your partner was using it or you became addicted? Sell your story to a magazine or newspaper for serious money – see the link at the end of this article.
BRAVE women in Saudi Arabia spend a day flouting the law that bans women from driving. Several women were spotted on the roads of the capital Riyadh driving unveiled. Some even pulled in front of cop cars, but police turned a blind eye – presumably to deny them the publicity they sought.
Islamic religious leaders in Saudi say that allowing women to drive would spread vice and temptation. Read a full report at http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jun/17/saudi-arabia-women-drivers-protest
To us, that’s backward and sexist. But there are women in Britain today whose partners – of all religions and none – try to control them by stopping them from going out when they want to, wanting to know where they’re going and who they’re seeing.

MP cleared of groping girl

Police last night dropped  a sex assault case against Tory MP Andrew Bridgen brought by a 29-year-old female political aide.
Mr Bridgen, 46, was arrested last week after the woman accused him of fondling her breasts and trying to put his hand up her skirt at his Westminster flat. He denied the allegations and Scotland Yard yesterday ruled that there was not enough evidence to continue investigating.
The MP for North West Leicestershire, who separated from his wife Jacqueline a month ago, is now considering legal action. Read the full story at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2004498/Andrew-Bridgen-sex-assault-case-dropped-police.html.
The saga that Mr Bridgen has suffered is likely to lead to new calls for those accused to sex offences to remain anonymous unless and until there is a conviction. Famous people who have suffered being named in sex cases that came to nothing include Mick Hucknall, of Simply Red, rock star Paul Weller and former TV presenter John Leslie.
